Who's using a little Netbook for their NaNo's?
I am.
I have a Dell Mini 10. The keyboard is 93% of a regular keyboard because it's kind of a wide screen. I love it. I got it in the spring of 09 and I wrote over 46 K in july and 72k in November. So this works perfect for a writer. That's why I wanted it. To write with. It's only about 3lb. It's a 1gb RAM (yes that little, they didn't have anything larger to start with at the time) and 160gb of hard drive space. Although I use a flashstick for a backup of my work (a little turqouise one).
I was looking at netbooks because I knew I didn't need all the programs of a laptop. Plus I wanted something more portable. And I needed a new computer.
These don't have a cd/dvd drive, and sometimes I regret that because I can't watch a movie, but when I'm writing I shouldn't have that distraction. Same with games. I like the small amount of ram because that means I can't put a lot on it.
Who else.

I've had netbbooks for the last 2, 3 years and I'm addicted to them. I'm currently waiting for my new netbook which should be here Friday!!! I have an external hard drive that I use if I need to use a CD on the netbook - and there's a nifty program called Virtual Drive, if I remember right. It basically creates a virtual copy of the CDs you need and may ue again, so if you wanted to watch a movie, just click on the file and play! The netbook I'm getting is called the Purple, made by Dell for the Hands On Video Relay Service - HoVRS. And the first 2 letters seems to have escaped their notice *snerk* (I have such juvenile humor)

I'll have to remember that external CD. I was debating whether to get a laptop with a cd/dvd or a netbook. I wanted the lightness of a netbook and just didn't need it. Although sometimes I wish I had it. But since it's just for writing, that works for me.

I GOT THE NETBOOK!!!! *whoohoo* *ahem* Er. External drive is awesome. Just pull it out when needed. I hardly ever use it, but it is sooo handy. I use mine for EVERYTHING - literally. School, writing, wasting time on the interwebz... I will never go back to a "normal" laptop. EVER. this thing is way too convenient!

Dragonyoga, that is great. I love my netbook. It's just perfect. My old laptop (which is pretty much dead) was so heavy with the battery that I hated moving it around. But i kept the battery in because there was about 5 minutes of time on it if the power went out I had some time to backup my work. without the battery it was still heavy.
