Thanks to a suggestion from zodiea, I've decided to post this guide to help all future members with getting started here.
The first thing you should do after you join, is post a profile. Profiles are separated into five sections by age and are a great way to introduce yourself and whatever novel you're writing, as well as making friends.
Even between writing months, there are still a lot of things to be done around the forums. You can look in on your regional lounge, or age group lounge. The groups are there for you to find friends with similar interests. We have a forum for games and quizzes were you can create your own or reply to existing threads.
Also, if you're still planning a novel, you should look around the genre houses for ideas and ask questions. Or there's the Artisan board to make or ask for book covers, banners and trailers. We write in January, March, May, July, September and November, but you can join us any time.
If you have any suggestions for more boards, head on over to the suggestion board or pm a staff member.

Oh, I recced this forum on my livejournal, and one of the commenters pointed out (it might've been C) that no where on the board does it really clearly state what months are 6M6No months. I mean, you can sort of assume that since we do NaNo that it's every other month, but it's a little unclear... Perhaps we could add that to the Newbie Guide or About Us?

hi--here's a dumb question: do we post our cumulative word count anywhere on site as the month progresses? is that aspect of nanowrimo carrying over to this project? thanks!

Yes. There's a space in your profile for you to put your word count and the amount you're going for (like 50k). And I made this board yesterday so we can all post our daily word counts. Happy writing!

Elizabeth, sorry that I'm being so dense: Do you mean the profile that we posted to introduce ourselves or the Proboards profile or something I haven't seen for having disappeared off the face of the Internet for two weeks? I glanced around both and didn't see anything, but I could have missed it easily.
